I recently picked up an Athlon Argos 4-20x50 with a duplex and center illuminated dot. 1" tube. Completely satisfied. It's a very nice scope by my eyes. I'm hoping to pick up a 2-12x42 when they come back in stock at Cameraland.

I've got a Trigicon Credo in the 3-9x40. Nice scope with great glass but I wish I had not bought it. I bought it for an upcoming hunt in Africa and will probably switch it out before then. 1) the crosshair is really thin. It's more of a fine crosshair than a duplex. Pretty easy to lose it once you put it on fur. If you turn on the illumination it really pops and is easy to pickup. 2) getting it mounted was a chore. The scope tube is really short and the ocular bell is huge. Talley lows or mediums didn't work. And leupold standard rings and bases barely allow clearance of the bolt handle.

Another vote for the Accupoint 3-9 w/duplex, green for me. Have two mounted on arguably my best rifles. The Accupoint duplex is about as good as it gets in duplex reticles; heavy side-bars that come close to the center and a fine center section with an illuminated dot. A few days ago I dialed one in and could clearly quarter a 1” white dot with it and see the green. If you have any skylight, you’ll see that dot via the fiber optics. In the dark, it’s tiny, but visible. I looked at the credo version, but as was said, it’s too fine and wide for use without turning on the light. I have two other Credo HXs, but that one gets a pass from me. Hopefully, someday they’ll bring out an HX version, which is their hunting line.
Neither has made it afield being new, but Both adjusted as dialed, and when my neighbors are inside, I try them out under various lighting conditions in my yard. Not cheap (about $650), but worth the price.
Trijicon has very descriptive reticle illustrations for each model on their website.
What fresh Hell is this?

Accupoint 3-9 is generally a good option. Just mounted one up on a 7mm-08 for sighting-in tomorrow.
Now with even more aplomb

How do the dots look with mild astigmatism?
I have a Trijicon red dot handgun site with a 2.5 MOA dot. I love it for defensive handgun -- wouldn't want to be without it. It would be horrible for hunting. It gets tolerable for 100+ yards with the brightness turned way down so the dot is very faint.
I don't think the riflescopes are reflex. I bet they use an optical fiber on the reticle assembly. So do they look like a point, starburst, a smear? How big in MOA?

Swarovski Z5 2.4x12x50.
If they made this scope with a 42-44 mm objective it would be perfect.

The problem with a 42mm objective is that at 12X the exit pupil is smaller than desireable. I have the Z5 in 2.4 to 12. I can recommend it for what it is - a hunting riflescope for standard ranges on game. It's lightweight, the optics are quality. Mine is not illuminated. That's the Z5i. Mine does have the Ballistic Turret, which is a slick way to quickly dial in preset elevations. However, I would not expect this scope to dial like a Nightforce etc. It is much lighter though. It fits one rifle I have very well. The objective bell is too large for another rifle and mount I have and it's not one where I can just change the rings. So I need a smaller objective for that. I will also go to a smaller power on the high-end.

I have a couple of the Konus pro 1.5-6x42's on various rifles and for the money they are great. It is 30mm though. Doug has great prices on them.

Recent scopes I bought, liked them, and shot big game with them: Leupold VX-6HD Vortex Razor HD LHT SWFA SS 2.5-10x32 Ultralight Trijicon AccuPoint TR20-2
I buy mail order and get scopes I don't like, but I am doing better on scopes than shoes from Amazon.
