Been having issues with feeding from a Remington 700 SA ADL.

New internal mag (WSM/SAUM)? Or new follower, same?

Was the action a 308 case to begin with ?

223 Short actions have tighter feed ramps than 308 actions…

What's happening, specifically? I've had some that needed the mag box lips tweaked to allow more or less of the case body to tuck under the actions internal rails. No 243AI experience though.

My 25-284 slicked right up with the addition of a SAUM follower. I think I retained the .308 mag box.

Started as a 308 action, if I load four down the first round pops out. Three down it usually jams the bullet nose into the top of the barrel. Two down it feeds fine.

It’s easy to get the magazine box pin in wrong if you happen to pull it apart so here are a couple things to check, especially if you replaced any of the parts…
When you push the follower down in the box it should move freely and not bind as it goes down so check it by hand.
If you pull it apart look at some of the following (I copied this from a different post)
In the end if it’s the right box, some guys will tune the spring by stretching it so it, compressing it or fixing where the spring it’s the bottom of the box.
It sounds like you have too much front pressure so the bottom of the spring could be too far forward…

1. If you don't have the assembly right, it won't feed right. Make certain you have the right box, follower and spring. Make sure the top of the box is pinched and seated into the receiver after you secure the little attachment screw.

2. Make sure you file the bottom of the mag box so it's completely clear from touching the bottom of the stock's blind mag floor. You don't want any binding and you don't want to accidentally push the box through the floor when you tighten the action screws.

3. Center and secure the bottom of the follower spring with two pieces of Gorilla tape. If the spring base isn't sitting right, the upward follower tension won't be even, causing misalignment/poor feeding.

Self solving when I took it apart and put it back together right.

I'm not the smartest person I know.

Oh I don’t know; being willing to consider that you futzed up is pretty smart. Some of the dumbest stuff I do is when I’m certain I’m right….

A common occurrence with Rem's

Has happened at least twice lately on the fire...

Recently bought an old 70s vintage 700 BDL Varmint in 222. Wouldn't feed right but didn't really pay attention to it as I single load it anyways at the range. It wasn't until I bought a single shot follower for it that I realized a previous owner had swapped the 222 mag box and follower for all 308. Well duh!

I'll just use the SS follower and forget about it.

Sometimes guys order replacement parts and aren’t careful about what they order - it happens.
