Took the 1886 deer hunting yesterday #16560687 10/25/21 Joined: Feb 2019 Posts: 996 R Region6 OP Campfire Regular OP Region6 Campfire Regular R Joined: Feb 2019 Posts: 996 I went out to fill a B tag and stumbled across this guy. He fell to a 1886 Winchester (reproduction) chambered in 45-70. The shot was 159 yards off hand, he dropped on the spot with a 417gr bullet cast from wheel weights.

On a side note, I couldn’t be happier with the cast bullet performance, bang flop and the meat is edible right up to the entrance and exit. I did find the gas check under the hide at the exit.
