I just mounted a Holosun 507K-X2 optic on my Sig P365XL. Blue loctite and torqued the screws to 15 inch pounds. My question is, does anyone here put a small torque stripe on such screws to check for loosening? I've heard that Jerry Miculek recommends it, although I've not seen him say it.

He is talking about torquing to a certain inch pound, then marking the screw so you know if it has backed out or not. I have done it for years on various firearms parts such as action screws, scope ring screw, base screws, etc.

Thanks Mackay! That's it. When I was a helicopter pilot we referred to that as a "Torque stripe". That's all I could think of to call it. It's a common practice on aircraft bolts.

I do it on all my competition guns, including the front and rear sights. I had a front sight on a G34 loosen up just enough it rotated, not enough be obvious, but enough to shift the group about 6" right at 10 yards - enough to miss plates on a rack.
