Just wondering what Marlin 45/70 in excellent condition with the box is worth.
It has a Williams peep sight installed on it.
Gun shop I saw it at was asking 989.00
Gun is ported.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you !!

I paid $1100 not long ago, but was mint in box. They are great guns. I’d snag it. Of course, I’d try to Jew them down first. 😎

I have a Marlin SBL that I’ve been offered 3 times what I paid for it. I just bought a1949 waffle top in 32 win. special. Don’t even ask! 4 tires for your pickup $1200.00. A tank of gas $100.00. A box of 270wsm. $70.00. 🤷♂️ Maybe these stupid prices are here to stay. If you want it, buy it. It’s not gonna get any cheaper

I offer them $950 OTD.
If they said no I'd offer them the asking price OTD
If they still said no I'd pony up the price + tax
I wouldn't wait too long. on it.

Prices for 45-70's are going up due to so many shotgun states allowing straight walled cases for deer.
PA just passed a law allowing their use in shotgun zones and 45-70's and 444 Marlins and 450 BM's are flying off the shelves of shops that can get them.

The guide guns I believe have Ballard rifling not micro groove. I would buy it if it was in good condition.

by today's prices, it's a very good price.......however, Ruger started turning out new 1895 SBL's and posted a pic recently on social media with their very first complete rifle. I seriously doubt if they're going to price these at anything close to current market prices and I suspect that suggested retail will be around $1,100-$1,200 and if they make a blued version like the guide gun, I suspect they'll be in the $800 range. This is speculation on my part, but I suspect prices on the street will stay high for a while, but once Ruger production is able to provide new guns, and assuming that they will make a quality rifle (which I believe they will), street prices will eventually start coming down for all versions, JM, REP, or Ruger proof stamp. If you're buying it to shoot it and enjoy it and it's what you want, I'd say go for it, but if you're buying it on speculation of a long-term price increase, then you might want to reevaluate.

I have a JM stamped Guide Gun, I got lucky with a beautiful stock. I love everything about it! It’s the one gun I’m 100% certain id never sell! Sounds like a nice deal, I’d grab it and never look back!

I have the same exact gun. It was gun of the year in 2000. I wouldn’t sell mine for that because I like it and want to keep it.
