I started Kindergarten in 1949. I rode to school in my brother's Kaiser.
Anybody beat this? Wabigoon might get the OM prize today.
I'm in. 1944 for me. 39 isn't my age, it's my vintage.
I remember just about all of this, except for the country stuff. I was a small town kid, no livestock. We did have Victory Gardens during WW II, though. Air raid drills and blackouts too.
Stupidity has its way, while its cousin, evil, runs rampant.
Dang, I remember that one. After it came on, there was one called Fury, "The story of horse... and a boy who loved him." Quit watching those shows when Dad started taking me hunting with him.
I am so old, I remember when Exxon was Esso, and yeah, it was a service station; they'd check the gas and fill it up with oil.
I am not so old that I remember the Amos 'n' Andy Show on the radio, but I am old enough to have seen it on TV.
I am old enough to remember when deer and bear were scarce, and you'd be ostracized for killing a doe. Turkeys and bald eagles were pictures in a book, but quail were plentiful; the opposite of how it is today.
I am old enough to remember a time when people didn't want to live on the beach because of all the hurricanes. I paid more for my pickup than my folks got for their house at the beach when we moved away.
I tried to post what I could remember now, cause I am so old that I might forget them if I wait until later.
The biggest problem our country has is not systemic racism, it's systemic stupidity.
If you were responding to my post, it was during WW II. The "duck and cover" Cold War stuff was about a decade later. In my case, my military service was during the so-called Cold War. The Cold War was a misnomer, it was never cold. Personal for me, as I was close to situations where US personnel were killed by the Soviets. 'Nuff said.
For those living on the coasts during WW II, air raids, sub attacks, and landing of spies and saboteurs were not unrealistic fears.

I started 1st grade in 1949 - Our school did not have a kindergarten. Went all 12 years in same building. Our Graduating class had 28 students 7 girls and 21 boys. Old Cuss
Colossians 3:17 (New King James Version) "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Aunt and uncle used one of those up until ~ 1969, or so. We had the operator saying "Number, please" until 1958 IIRC, then we got dial phones - 4 numbers to dial.

I remember using the innards of these for shocking catfish.
This was already old when us unwashed urchins used to sing along, loudly.....
Then in the old Grade B Westerns that followed we’d all cheer the goodies and boo the baddies.
