I just got done with another 10k mule deer hunt gongshow cluster f@#k. Filthy accommodations no quality deer ,could care less guides in Utah. I have achieved most of my goals hunting except a quality Mulie.(170/180) I am willing to pay. Maybe I should hire a consultant....? Any advise or reccomended outfitters would be appreciated. Thank you

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Thank you I’d be calling some eastern plains CO outfitters with a 10K budget. Call Kiowa creek outfitters or Sandy hill. Also who was the Utah outfitter??

BCJR, I’ve hunted with a guy in Eastern Montana for years and in an average year, a 170 deer is a 50/50 king of thing (I’m picky and don’t shoot very often but have taken a couple 30” bucks (these typically don’t score as well as narrower deer in this area). It’s a fun spot and stalk deal in the bad lands and I’ve passed many deer that would meet your standards over the years. Most years, I see multiple 160s deer a day. This area is genetically predisposed for short beams, but good mass with frequent cheaters.
I’m quite familiar with a number of CWMUs in Utah and can steer you in a direction that will be the opposite of the experience you’ve described. Accommodations, guides and game are top tier. I don’t know who you were hunting with, but I know much of the west had significant drought that easily equates to poor antler growth.
Happy to discuss via PM

BCJR, I'm sorry you had a bad experience. That sucks. My experience with J&J ( Jed and Jenni Wayment) is very different than yours. I have hunted with them three times over the years for bull elk and each time I certainly got my money's worth. My biggest bull to date was with Jed. Having said all that, If I wanted a quality mule deer buck I would not be hunting Utah. It's my opinion that a "good" buck mule deer are far and few between.

He’s guided a couple of buddies of mine for several +200 point mulies in that area.
