Holy hell. Could you ask a more broad question?
Winchester? WSM? Weatherby?
Bullets? Grains?

I used 59.5 grains H4831 with 130 grain Sierra pro hunter bullets for 30 years. very accurate in my Ruger 77, and put the deer down from 30 yards to 275 yards.
Gifted that rifle to my nephew 2 years ago and he has put several down with it.

270 standard...............H4831 and a good 130 grain bullet. There are other powders that will also give good results. I've had good luck with IMR4350, and R26 is supposed to be very good, providing you can find it.
Personally, when I first started reloading the 270, I just went with the Jack O'Connor "standard" load of 60 grains of H4831 and a 130 grain bullet. There's some debate today about that loading, as O'Connor was using data from the old surplus powder, and today's powder is supposedly different. But, I've yet to experience a problem, and I've loaded 1000's of rounds using the O'Connor data and modern H4831.
Bottom line, do a little research and see what others are using, and just go from there. Try several different powders and see which one works best for you.

H-4831, RL-22 and IMR 7828 have worked great with 150-160gr bullets for over 35 years for me in 270 Winchester.

I've personally never owned a 270 myself but my brother does and he uses RL22 almost exclusively with excellent results.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

My standard load for several decades has been 60.5 gr/H4831SC, Fed 210M, 130 gr. Nosler Partition (or Accubond) in several makes of brass. I get 3050 fps with 24” barrels in a couple .270 Winchesters. Very accurate.
Surpassing that load these days has been 60.5 gr/RL26, Fed 210M, 150 gr Nosler Partition. I get 3025 fps with this load and superb accuracy.

what powder should I use to reload the .270 In terms of velocity, RL26 leaves the rest for dead, especially with bullets in the 130gn - 150gn range.

I got excellent velocity and accuracy in 3 M700s with it and the 130 Hornady IL and Sierra PH. what powder should I use to reload the .270 In terms of velocity, RL26 leaves the rest for dead, especially with bullets in the 130gn - 150gn range. Yep, but even before this garbage going on now, it was hard to find. I get 3200+ with the 130 TBT in my M70.

What I’ve used and liked: RE 26, H4831sc, & IMR 4350.
I think others mentioned I’m sure work well too.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

had good performance with my pre 64 Model 70 with several factory loads and my reloads.
Used IMR4350 [because that was what i had ] and 130 gr and 150 gr Partitions and recently 130 gr Hornady Interlocks. Did partial length resizing. Adjusted the seating depth.
All would shoot about MOA when i was doing my job. Deadly on whitetails.
My small experience with my rifle and 2 others was that the 270 is often not too finicky.

Another shout out for H4831 with 130g slugs (I prefer Hornady IL or Nosler PT). Accurate and fast enough at 3100fps out of a 22” tube.

I forgot to mention RL23. It’s what I used in my Tikka with 150 Partitions for 2980. I don’t use the Tikka and had some left over and that same load shot well from my peep sighted 760. Not that I can eek out max accuracy from the sights but it’s easily an 1.5/2” load through the 20” barrel. Haven’t checked speed as it don’t matter much for that rifle. I’m betting it’s still over 2900.

H4831 is the age old standby for the 270 Win and I've had good success with it, but I've found h4831sc to shoot better in my rifles. And as a added bonus, it meters much better. Phil

I've used the 4831s for five decades but recently switched to RL16 with 130 gr bullet....way better....great velocity, very temperature stable and I have the powder.
