Can you take an ordinary 7mm magnum rifle, have a gunsmith “ream” out the barrel to a 7mm STW caliber and still be accurate. Additionally not have to change bolt extractors or any other parts and it still function correctly? 7mm STW’s are so hard to find. Thank you for your replies. With friendship, Troy

That’s the same thing I did to make my first Mashburn, so I can’t see any reason you couldn’t do the same with the STW.

Yes it has been done to a lot of rifles when it came out.

My main elk rifle started as a SS fluted 7RM and was punched to 7STW. (I bought it post-surgery)

As long as it has a 26” barrel, go for it.

The return is not worth the effort....I've had a Sisk STW a and Custom shop Mountain rifle in 7 ultra mag....my Shilen barreled 7mm Remington magnum was faster.

I did it many times when the STW first came out. As long as the magazine box will fit the longer cartridge I never had any feeding issues. The only issue I ever had was a ring mark on the STW brass where the old 7 mag shoulder was. It was just a miniscule difference in tolerances between my reamer and the factory chamber.
