Seen at Academy today.

https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/ruger-ec9s-9mm-pistol?sku=9mm-luger

I was happy to see Ruger still offers a lightweight single-stack 9mm. I believe I paid significantly more than $300 for Ruger’s previous LC9 at Academy three years ago.

The EC9 is the lineal descendant of the LC9, looks very similar, and even accepts the same magazines. With an extended 9 round magazine I find the LC 9 comparable in the pocket to a j-frame revolver with a longer grip.

I picked one up a couple years ago at Academy on sale for $199. Good little compact handgun for the money. I agree, the 9 round mag makes it more shootable.

I have one of those and the Taurus G2c and the G3c. Taurus is slightly larger but still a micro gun. 12+1 mags. I like the Taurus.

I’ve tried the Taurus and the Sig 365, haven’t found a double stack mag design yet that wasn’t a tad too heavy and too wide for practical pocket carry.

For me the Ruger LC9 with a nine round magazine packs about like a j-frame, easier to shoot well, with twice the rounds (9+1). The EC9 appears identical and uses the same mags.

Just like the Uncle Mike’s Combat Grip on the j-frame, the longer magazine on the LC9 make the piece position more consistently in a pocket, and indexes the same way in the hand more consistently every time than shorter grips/magazines do.
