The City Bar in Great Falls has a perfect Reuben. We usually stop in there when we're in GF's - good place. We were there last weekend but haven't tried the Reuben (yet). I'll fix that next time - love a good Reuben... Hell with the Reuben....Ima gonna have the liverwurst someday! I aint no Joo!

I think it’s called the Liverbest. It has bacon also. A+

Both are mayo, ketchup, & pickle relish based.
The Russian seemingly the simplest with maybe just lemon juice added.
No. Russian is more spice. Thousand island is more sweet. Half right. Thousand is sweeter as sugar is one of the adders to the base ingredients of both. But if a dressing with the listed base ingredients is a lot spicier, it's due to added chili sauce & then it's not Russian, it's Louis dressing.  No.

I'm the party pooper, again, because these things are not kosher in most cases (cheese and meat). A corned beef sandwich with sauerkraut is a thing of beauty, but add in some gloppy mayo abortion juice and the cheese and I'd sooner pay the bill than eat the damn thing.

I don't like the goop. Every single time I order a grilled corned beef and sauerkraut on rye sandwich at a deli they say "so you want a reuben?". Every single time. No I wanted grilled corn beef and sauerkraut on rye. They seem completely dumbfounded.

The original used Russian, but Thousand Island is the semi-official substitute.
You "except with" guys are like libs who call a Ruger 10/22 an "assault rifle". Calling your sandwich a Reuben doesn't make it one. Correct. You go to a good Jewish deli, you get Russian dressing.

Replacing the kraut with coleslaw and the rye with anything but pumpernickel sounds good, but then it is not a Reuben. What if you add beans?
