Found one in excellent condition, except for one very minor scratch on the stock. Low round count and might buy from the original owner. He purchased it new in 1968. Anyone have a good ballpark price for this rifle? Thanks

Should be a West Germany rife - there's two sitting locally in NOVA in a gun shop for $1200, and they haven't moved in 18 months - one is probably coming close to three years there.

Both of these are scoped, but not high dollar glass.

FWIW - I'd want to be in it at $1K.

Be aware that there are two barrel configurations; a lighter weight 24" and a heavier 26". To some that makes a difference.

These are some fine made rifles. The only problem is age , which means they could have been shot a lot. They are head and shoulders above the Jap version. Other posters are correct on price. Hasbeen

I must respectfully disagree with this one. I own both German and Japanese Weatherbys. The quality of wood, fit, and finish on the Japanese rifles is superior to the German rifles (and this comes from a German guy). The triggers are certainly better on the Japanese rifles.

It has a 24 inch barrel and the guy selling it(original owner) estimates 100 rounds down the tube since new. He says it's very accurate and it's been on a few hunts. Just never shot it alot.

I disagree also with the $1000 dollar value, if it is in good shape. I have turned down more than that on mine, that is in 270 WBY mag. I sold one that was a Weatherby Mauser action for 2K. Although that I guess wasnt german??

I sold -2- WBY Mark V’s last 12 months both for $1200 each. One was a 1973 Japan 300 WBY Mark V Deluxe with the #2 Contour 26” barrel. Other was one of the last of the Japan Mark V Sporters 30/06 9 lug. Both were in excellent condition. I felt like it was a fair deal for both parties.

I'd rather pay 2K for that rifle than most anything currently being made anywhere. I think the prices being suggested are not going to get that rifle for you.

Yes you can. Fit and finish LMAO they are both great, trigger is the weak spot on the German. I much prefer the wood and metal work on the German .

Some of there prices quoted are by people that do not know what they go for.

Like my Weatherby collector friend said it is all about the wood. If is a plain stocked gun 1300.

I'm going to see the rifle in two weeks. I'll see if I can get it for a reasonable deal.

Yes and its only been used on Sunday by a little old lady. Does he have shot targets? It is your money, how bad do you need it or want it?
