I an requesting assistance to date the manufacture of S&W K frame, serial # K327392. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Caliber is 22 long rifle.

Dirtdoctor: I am extrapolating from the year listing in my Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson as being manufactured in July of 1958.
Which "Model" of K frame Smith & Wesson is your 22 L.R.

Not mine, but there is no model number stamped anywhere that I can find. I know most of the time the model number is stamped on the crane, but not on this one. Thanks for the reply

1958, according to my copy of the Standard Catalog.

As near as I can tell this is a Model 17, has a six inch barrel with patridge sites and is on a K size frame.

If there isn’t a model number stamped it’s a K-22 Masterpiece. The Standard Catalog is only a basic guide for serial numbers and approximate dates, they only way to know for sure when it was shipped is a factory letter. The transition to model numbers didn’t have a clear cutoff date.
