Anyone here raise hair sheep?

On paper they look more lucrative than cattle, which makes me ask, what's the catch?

I know a guy locally that raises them and swears by then. Easy going disposition can graze 5/6:1 cow and his average is two lambs a year per ewe. After a little market research it's looking like he's making double than what cattle producers are on the same AUMs. I'm very interested in learning more if anyone has real world experience with them, specifically katahdin or dorpers since they seem to be the most prominent here in South Dakota. I've raised Suffolk sheep in the 90s so not looking to talk about wool breeds this time.
