IIRC DST was started in WWII to allow farmers to work later.

It was so successful that by September 1945 we had a daylight surplus of over 600 million hours. Of course, f'ing politicians immediately wasted that so we now have a huge daylight deficit.

Huh??
Winter yard work consists of snow and ice removal.
Ever hear if ice fishing? It's a new invention where someone cuts a hole in the ice and fishes or spears.
Golf? Put the clubs away and grab the snowshoes or skis or hop on a snowmobile and go for a ride.

Some of us also can’t “just change your work hours” because we want to and like to do that other outdoor activity that some folks on this very forum talk about from time to time called hunting. I have been able to go bow hunt after work this week for an hour and a half but that’ll be over come Monday because it’ll be dark 30 minutes after I get home. I’m going to have to be at work before sunup regardless but it sure is nice to have a little useful light in the evenings for hunting, firewood gathering, vehicle maintenance and repair and plenty of other stuff. Give me permanent DST.

In Arizona we do not change times. Same all year round. I would be in favor of daylight sa ings time if we could set our clocks back to 1950.

I don’t give a schit if it’s DLS or standard time, just quit changing back and forth.

Just getting used to the chickens getting up and needing let out of the Gulag and fed at a civilized hour.

Now, I will have to disturb my beauty rest to be a responsible Gulag owner and chicken wrangler.

Going to have to do my evening chores/yard work with a headlamp on now.

Sheesh.

Ultimately I agree. When I lived in AZ it was neat. But here up at a more northern latitude the argument can be stronger made to go with DLS as the standard.

I've worked worked all the different shifts and know it's possible to adjust to anything. The time change twice a year isn't a big deal, but I'd vote for a permanent DST if it came to a vote.

Does it change WHEN the sun really rises and sets???

Does it change the amount of daylight for any given day???

Does it change the habits of game???

Is there a Constitutional Authority that gives CONGRESS the right to make Laws RE: 'the clock' that I am unaware of???

Did you see my new piggies??

When you have piggies you need a milking cow. Feed the skim to the piggies.

I have heard people say that more sun light in the AM makes it safer for kids traveling to school in the northern half of the contiguous 48.

The older that I get the more I like getting up with the Sun regardless of what time the clock indicates.

OK, for the guys that work, at what Latitude must you live for this to be a real benefit??????

'Cause I'm pretty sure that if you live at the equator or above the Arctic Circle it don't do dik!!!!

So there must be some 'sweet spot' betwixt the two where it really matters, rest of the world be damned..............
