Sitting in camp the evening before opening day a forked horn walks by maybe 15 yards away, following a doe.
Good time to practice my "meah". I tried all kinds of different intonations but that buck wouldn't even look at me much less stop.
Must be doing it wrong.

Sometimes it works to stop em and get their attention. Sometimes not. I have at times done it so loud it is ridiculous and almost comical when a buck on a doe stops and has a WTF? moment.
Really a situation of nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Deer hunt over here......
Just this morning at day break...
deer scattered around field & in the yard...
Then I noticed a big azz 4 point beating the snot out of an Aspen tree in the yard 50 yds away
Had to open the front door & yell at him & get him moving
Usually put up fence panels around the usual buck rubbing areas
Today's to do list.....

Not chasing here yet but I have seen a lot of bucks. Passed up a big 4-4 opening evening and the next morning passed up a huge 5-5 so my grandson could shoot a doe. It was tuff but I’ve killed many and this was just his second deer. Edk

The meh works great for cruisers and walkers.
Full out frothing rut chase, it’s hit and miss. However, many times the full on chase is being done by a 1.5/2.5 year old ‘toady buck’
If you’ll not blow your wad too early, there’s sometimes a more mature buck hanging back, if he presents save the meh for him instead drawing attention yourself doing that stunt to a crazed basket sixer trying to get some tang
