What are you guys using? I just used a friends ultra lightweight seek outdoors tent which was great except for the condensation on the synthetic material which really sucked when the wind blew. I’m thinking canvas with a stove jack but don’t want something that weighs 60 pounds...

My horse never uttered a word of complaint while packing a wall tent.

That’s a tough one. I have a Kodiak canvas ( too heavy) and a seek outside.

I just use whatever nylon tent is needed depending on circumstances. I’d rather use the weight for horse feed.

not related to the OP request, but I've been trying to find a cheap canvas tent big enough for 2 cots , two folding chairs and a camp stove. Was hoping to scoop one up used on craigslist and then put a stove jack in it
not in a hurry but my wife told me she'd like to do some winter camping.
Its not something we'd do more than 2-3 times so I'm trying to cheap my way out of it

How big do you need? Check out Reliable tent and Davis tents. I’ve got a 10’x10’ canvas w/fly with a center pole that 2 guys with cots can sleep in comfortably. Has a stove jack but cooks you out unless it’s below freezing.

I like the cowboy range tent/teepee. Setup and take down in minutes. It only has two tent poles and you can cut those yourself on arrival if you don’t want to pack them.

A full liner in the Seek Outside tipis eliminates most condensation problems. I leave the liner in all year. My 8 man which is adequate for 2 in my opinion, weighs about 18# with the tipi, liners, xl stove and pipe, aluminum pole and stakes. The 12 man size is only a few pounds more. Drawbacks are high cost and you don't want to let a lot of snow build up on the tent which is true for most any single pole tent. These lightweight stoves heat things up great but don't hold a fire for long.

My horse never uttered a word of complaint while packing a wall tent. Mine either till he was packing a wall tent AND an elk. Just trying to see if there’s new alternatives out there.

The Cabelas Alagnak is not a bad recommendation but being a single wall synthetic it is cold and creates condensation. Lightweight and winter do not go together, Get a canvas tent with a stove jack and enjoy the comfort.

I like the kodiak tents. Buddy has a 10x14 flex now model and it does great with a heater. Have seen pics of folks adding a stove jack and using stoves.
As ribka mentioned, they ain’t light. Listed at 78#’s. 10x10 is 10#’s lighter.

Springbar tents are the same design as the Kodiak and have a stove jack option, that is worth a hard look

Best winter tent ever made is an Arctic Oven made by Alaska Tent and Tarp.
