Yep - Read The Fleet at Flood Tide by the same author. Also excellent.

Went thru the drive thru teller at the bank during lunch today. A sign was prominently posted saying the bank would be closed in observance of Veterans Day, 11/11. I ask the teller if she was a veteran. She replied "No." Then I asked how was it that as a 20yr plus vet, I had to work and she got the day off? The look of dumb-foundment on her face was priceless.

I took the oath over 40 years ago and will honor it until I am no longer breathing. Happy veterans day to all the vets here and all across the USA.

The county is letting me off for the day. No pay and no benefits but I get the day off. I guess that 24 years paid off after all.

Well, I served in the Coast Guard, so I don't really count, but I am going to run all over town tomorrow getting free food!
