Redneck on this forum does a great job.

Redneck is a m70 guru but I’m pretty certain he is retired now.

Kevin weaver in Colorado I think works on pre64 M70 and is a great gunsmith. Not sure if anyone else on this forum does but someone might chime in.

Is Gene Similion still building rifles? He does some nice work. My local Smith was the best I've seen, but he's retired. Its a shame, a lot of the good ol smiths that specialized in pre 64 model 70's seem to be retired now.

You understand correctly... Yep - I'm done.... But if it matters at all, I would echo contacting Jim Kobe... He's excellent..

I was fortunate a while back to live within a reasonably short drive of both you and Jim. I think of both of you with fond memories when I look at my guns.

Sad to see that Redneck is retired. He’s done a fair amount of work for me in the past too. Always did a good job at a fair price.

I can vouch for Mark Penrod too…he is excellent!

Since Redneck is done

The custom Pre-64 358 Winchester that was built by John Hofmiester is meticulously finished and shoots lights out. It put 2 different 200gr loads in a silver dollar sized group.
