Well picked up my BMR from my FFL. On my example there were a few problems. One was the trigger. It was set at 3lbs with alot of over travel. It would not adjust. Neither of does a B14rs had this problem. So I put a spare Timney 510 in it. It wouldn't adjust either. Replaced that with a Trigger tech Primary and adjusted to 1 1/2 lbs with no problems. Put a old Leupold VX11 4 to 12 on it and went to the range. Scope would not zero. The good thing is 5 shot groups ranged from as bad as 1.125" 1 group to as good as .3" 1 group all in all 30 5 shot groups adveraged. .7". Lot of the problem was me but did have about a 20 mph cross wind. Really like the little gun. Timney and scope getting sent in for service. Looking for a bore guide.
I picked one up the other day. I added a Leupold 6.5x20EFR and finally got to shoot it yesterday. I agree that the trigger is horrible. There is a modification on Rimfire Central that reduces the factory trigger down to about 1lb. Im all thumbs and this involves tapping a hole in the trigger group and adding a 4-40x5/8" full dog set screw to place pressure on something. I ordered a Jewel trigger for mine last night, adjusts between 1.5oz to 3.5lbs. I have a Kidd 2 stage in my TacSol X22 that is 8oz and 8 oz. so I will probably try to get it around that. I shot some CCI Subsonic HP, Norma Tac, and Aquila Standard Velocity through mine. The Norma Tac shot the worst. I had a 5 shot group of .449 with the CCI at 50 yards. A 10 shot group of the Norma Tac went into a .757 group at 50 yards, Aquila Extra shot into a .655 group at 50 yards. I had a wind of 16mph coming from almost directly behind me and fighting that trigger, I am very pleased. With the scope mounted it weighs 6.5lbs.
I put the Jewel trigger in it today. It’s set at 1.5lbs right now. I cleaned the action of all the excess oil and retorqued it in the stock. After it settled back in place these two groups were fired at 50yards. I think I may go back to 5 shot groups, haha.
Still waiting for the BMRs to show up at the LGS. Questions is: Which will come first, the BMRs, or Christmas?
The BMRs have been shipping for nearly two months now.
If Christmas comes first, then I would say that is more an issue with your local gunshop than Bergara.
Well, Christmas has come and gone, and alas, no BMRs have shown up at the LGS. Guess I'll have to check the online sources and see who has what. Really wanted to get my hands on one of each (steel and CF versions) before plunking my money down.
Maybe I'll just invest in another suppressor . . . . . . . at the rate Bergara's are showing up at the LGS, it's entirely likely that with the new ATF eForms now up and running, and proposed 90-120 day approvals, I'd get a suppressor before a BMR !
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.
