Huh, I searched the CM threads and didn't get a hit on the 140 gr. Partition.

This is my all-time favorite bullet in the Swede; in fact it's the only bullet I ever loaded for the Swede and now, finally, finally I got my hands on a bunch again.

So, does anyone have a working load for this combo they can recommend?

I'm thinking of starting right close to my working load for the 143 gr. ELD-X. Probably start at 41.5 gr. H4350 which "should" get me right close to 2700 fps MV based on a 24" barrel.

Feedback is appreciated.

Pud

I load the 140gr accubond using 42gr H4350 and getting 2676 fps, good accuracy. This is out of a 24" ruger

Good to know for the future. Thanks.

I've been trying to get my hands on the 140 gr. NABs almost as long as I've been searching for Partitions.

One of the unintended side benefits to all this searching is I've collected a bunch of Oryx and Weldcores to substitute for not finding Noslers....

I think your working ELD-X load is pretty close to the mark. I load 41g of IMR 4451 for the 140 NPT in my Creedmoor, around 2650 in my 22” Savage 11. Good accuracy as well. Glad you found the Partitions you were hunting.

Yea, my working ELD-X load is 41.7 gr. Definite node there and the barrel loves it. The Partition just might perform there as well. We'll see. There's another node at ~42 gr. but I've not yet drilled down on that.

I've used the ELD-X on the last 3 elk but have been very, very careful to always get a picture-perfect broadside double lung shot on each. As a result, there's been no drama, no fuss collecting up.

With the Partition and bonded bullets I know from experience my shot opportunities will broaden just a bit more....

They work well in .264 win mags, should be good in the Creed. I went to 140 ballistic tips, cause they are cheaper, kill just as well.

The 6.5 Creedmore is a long way from a 264 Win mag.....

I only shot the 140 gr. Partition in a Swede for many, many years. I'd be shocked If I couldn't get them to fly consistently in the CM...

It's next in line at the loading bench.

Consider trying some RL16 behind the 140gr Partition. I haven't settled on an exact load, but this far RL16 is showing promise in both the velocity and accuracy department.

In a 22" barrel. the lot of H4350 I used pressured out at 42gr @2750fps with best groups 40.5 to 41gr @c.2700fps.

RL16 got to 44gr @2875fps. but was a tad sticky. Backed down to 43.5gr @2850fps . 3/4 to 1" groups.

For the win... RL26 got sticky at 49gr-2960fps. 47.5 to 48 gr felt better @2860 to 2900fps with a few sub 1/2" groups & many 3/4".

All loads in Hornady brass, WLR, bullet seated to just kiss the lands, not a hard jam. All 4 shot groups at 100 yds.

As always, my stuff isn't your stuff so work up (or down) to what your rifle likes.

Similar results in my 22" 6.5CM w/RL16.

Haven't stuck my toe in the water as it pertains to the 6.5CM and RL26, but have plans to do so.

I haven't loaded the 140 partitions much in the Creedmoor but I tried some 125s and just worked up for speed with both h4350 and RL17 years ago. I took both powders up around 3000fps and thought that would make a good all around load for anything but longer range.

I've pretty much stuck with h4350 and 140 vldh because I came up with a load early that shot incredible well consistently. I ended up not experimenting with other bullets and loads as much as I do with a lot of cartridges.

I just bought another Creedmoor in a kimber open range on a clearance so maybe I'll try some different bullets in it when it warms up a bit. I've been wanting to try the 142g ABLRs I have on the shelf and some RL16 and 26.

Finished loading up 140 gr. Partitions in my CM. Started with the OAL from Nosler's web site, and powder charge I use with the 143 gr. ELD-X.

Here's the details as I posted in the favorite 6.5 CM thread:

Rifle: CA Mesa w/22" barrel
Bullet: 140 gr. Nosler Partition
Powder: H4350 41.7 gr. 5 shot MV avg: 2,647 fps
Brass: Hornady
Primer Federal 210M
CBTO: 2.152"
COAL: ~2.790"
5 shot group avg: 0.674"
Likely can tighten the group ever so slightly, but as a hunting bullet, why?

Interesting how someone would look up nosler load data. Hmm

Why wouldn't you start with Nosler data, on Nosler bullets? I have had good luck with their data.

For heavy bullets, nothing has beaten Re26, if you can find it. I load it under 147 ELDMs in one Creed at 2747fps. I ran it up to 2800, but it started getting a little hot. It kills deer with authority. I did not have any problem hitting 2800, with the Hornady 140 Interlocks, either, as they were also very accurate. I think that the Interlock would be a good substitution for the Partitions.

I'm using RL26 in the 6.5CM with moly coated 140gr Nosler Partions. The exact load escapes me right now, but my load at 2730fps was the sweet spot.
