Struggle with tuning a radio, can't read music. Would like to play guitar, carpal tunnel disagrees.
Been told I sing well as church, ask to join choir. "Not a chance" stopped that nonsense.
However, a family friend that's really good to my daughter ask me to sing in the choir at the Christmas thing. My wife was laughing, and encouraging me to. She hates attention almost as much as I, so..."I will if you do".
Son of a beech, she piped right up and agreed!
Kinda worried. I love to sing in private, and get into it a bit much. (Been told the neighbors hear me over the mower)
I really do not want to be heard over the choir. I'm loud, not good.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Anytime there's a mike around I sing at 10.
When I & most of the audience has had 10 beers. I'm really good that time of night.

I come from a family that has a lot of musical talent (not counting me) but I can tell if somebody is singing off key or is playing an instrument that's out of tune.

As a young man I could play the french horn, E-flat horn, mandolin, and guitar. Not so much now.
I'm pretty good on the gut bucket.

Nope but my sister spent 10 years singling opera in Italy. La Scala and the like.

Back in the late 60's learned to play the bass.
In a rock band for a while but figured i could make more money working on cars and trucks.
Things have been good and i find myself doing cords in my head to songs on the radio.

Cant sing. Have guitars, 12 string, spanish, nylon string, banjo, violin. Can't play hardly tall. Thinking of not playing mandolin too if I find one. And I really like dobros.
Given a choice on going down and plunking away or reading crap on this phone guess which wins?

I own a 1958 Fender electric, but have probably not played since 1985 or so. It sits in the corner and collects dust.

Sang in church choir, was lead singer for high school stage band, did a lot of friends wedding back in the day, now get asked to do funerals. Had a group for a while in college, decent I guess.

Both. My undergrad degree is in music education, saxophone emphasis. Could have double-majored in vocal as well, but I don't like the drama most throats bring to the able. I prefer and play Selmer saxophones, hence my handle here at the 'fire.

The quality of my singing and guitar playing is directly related to how much alcohol my listeners have consumed! After a Sunday afternoon of playing music, a gentleman offered to pay my way to Nashville for tryouts. He was exceedingly drunk, I was very appreciative..... as pleasantly as possible I explained to him that tomorrow I would not sound nearly as good! š memtb
