Need to replace the deadbolt on an steel exterior door.
The bore hole is 1 5/8”. Everything available is the new and improved 2 1/8”. Really don’t want to have to redrill the deadbolt hole or replace the door.
Where can I find a 1 5/8” deadbolt?

What brand was the old dead bolt? Sounds like you may need to contact a manufacture for a special order? Personally i would see about fitting a mortise lock since its steel?

Nope not special order, but not cheap either. Search 1 5/8” dead bolt = couple hundred hits. Baldwin 8031 fits 1 5/8” hole = 80-110. Bucks available for order through Home Depot, door hardware store and Amazon.

You can go out in any hunting area and find bolt handles that fell off 700's and weld one to the right size round stock.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
