So, the short story is: while cleaning up at my wife's grandmothers house, I found a couple of pawpaws knives. One is a old timer 940T with a broken spring.

I know there is no realistic valve in getting it repaired, but my wife wants to carry it on occasion.

With Schrade offering no help , only replacement what other options do I have?

Suggestions welcome.

I have 10 thumbs the size of dinner plates but have still managed to do some internal work on folders. First and cheapest would be to buy an identical knife off Ebay as a parts knife then either change it yourself or have a custom knife maker swap on the springs, He will have all the tools necessary,

Check out the Schrade collector forum on bladefourms.com should have plenty of info on replacing the spring. Depending on age some used swinden key construction instead of the conventional pins.

All About Pocket Knives AAPK Schrade forum.

Schrade USA went bankrupt in 2004.

What you find today are companies that have bought the brand names.
