I have not had a problem carrying the full size xdm 10 mm I think mine has a 4.5 inch brl. Reliable as any Glock I have ever owned.
At some point my hobbies became my life.

+1. The standard 4.5 model is fine with me. Mine is my outdoors/chores gun. It gets filthy, but keeps ticking. Is a bit loud, compared to a 40 or 45, but I expected that.
Now with even more aplomb

My only 10mm is a Glock 20. I like the cartridge and frequently consider getting another. If I were to do so, however, it would be a 1911 platform or Sig 220. I really question whether the level of added performance obtainable from a short-barreled, plastic compact is worth the attendant muzzle blast and recoil. I think if I wanted more than a 9mm has to offer in a compact carry pistol I would go with a .40 S&W or even a .45 ACP before a 10mm.
I see the 10mm's primary virtue as being an outdoor pistol that, with hot 180 or 200 grain loads, gives significantly more smack at greater distances than other autopistol cartridges.
