Mine has a never ending bowl of Meow Mix Tender Centers and I usually give her a small can of food she munches on all day. Maybe I should put her on a diet but I figure she's stuck in this house her whole life I may as well make it enjoyable for her. I do realize it may cut her life shorter than it needs to be though. Tough call

I understand.

With three whippets in our house, there are no more small furry animals allowed.

Stop on by, we'll hook you up with a kitten for her.

80 some odd years old in a few weeks. Still has one old cat around. Younger man in her life so they're thinking a dog for him.

Sorry we can't help you out. frown

Adopted a tuxedo cat, Boots, from the neighbor lady years ago. She had to move down the street to an apartment with "no pet" rules. Said if I kept her the girls could come by every once in a while to say hi. That didn't last long and I was stuck with her.

Even before the adoption she was fascinated with me, would follow me around the yard/garden, just sit down and watch what I was doing, When I moved she followed along.

We moved up the hill and had a 1/4 mile walk down to the mailbox. Wife and I would call the dogs and go down in the evening. Look back, here comes Boots on our little trek. Turn around to head home, if she was busy being a cat I'd just call her and she'd come running after us.

Had her for a long time, folks would see her following me around and ask "Is that your cat?".

I'd tell them "No, that's my other dog, Boots"

Weird little cat, I miss her still.

Sold a farm house years ago... we had a huge 1930s barn. We had a "pet" cat that lived in that barn and was super happy about it... been in there for years. Put out some food from time to time, but my opinion is that the cat preferred fresh mice 24/7/365. "Curlina" (kids named) was NEVER any bother.

Told the buyers that the cat conveys... they agreed.

Then they got rid of the cat (presumably a dump down some old long dirt road, but I don't know for sure).

Couple months later they sent me an email about a terrible mouse and rat infestation.

Morons...

Have 1 that is mostly outside, keeps anything smaller than her killed off around the house and I am A OK with that.

But when it gets below freezing she literally starts banging her head against the back door. Open the door for her and she walks over to the door that goes down to the garage and stays down there as long as she likes, has never bothered anything down there, and likes to watch old westerns on the garage TV

The thing with cats is, you have to let the cat 'define the relationship'.

If not, you just might play a game with the cat called 'white boy bleed a lot'......grin

First and foremost, I'm a dog lover . I couldnt imagine going through life without a K9 amigo.
However, Maine Coon Cats are a breed apart, for sure. Had bunches over the past 10-15 years and would take another in a heartbeat.

Hey Slum I grew up with a calico cat very similar to yours. It slept on my chest every night. Even started to give birth when I was sleeping didn't enjoy that so much but she was my buddy.

Nope.
Don't like them.
Never did.

I tolerate one for the sake of my wife, and she knows it.

When my kids were young one of the cats we had was named penis, a female cat, don't know why they named her that. I had taken the kids to buy school clothes, getting home, and pulled up in the driveway they told me to look out for penis so I slowed down and figured she had got out of the way, I gave it a little gas to pull up the rest of the way, ran over her and degloved her back half but didn't kill her, man I felt bad, had to put her down.

Maine coons. Rare birds indeed.
