Man was standing at a traffic light with a cardboard sign that read “Veteran looking for work”. I’m all for helping out our service men/women, but seems to me that with all the help wanted signs around these days, why is he standing on the street? The skeptic in me says he’s not legit, but if he wasn’t, he’d just be panhandling under the guise of a vet. Just doesn’t look right.

Got no sympathy for him.
See too many of em around here working the system and any angle they can.

Rubes fall for their signs and all the other bums signs too.
Rubes giving em money is the problem.
Fugga,s making 25 35 bucks an hour.
Think about that....

Fugg they even have pet kangaroos.....

Rubes around here would fall for even this sign....
Seriously.....

Could be he has a chemical problem or has no place to live as no one will rent to him with a criminal record and when you live outside you get smelly and dis-ruffled? Also, he could be like me with a bad knee and cannot stand on hard floors and lift heavy boxes. I have two degrees and decades of office skills and am in Austin, TX, most jobs here are now blue collar unskilled labor and I have a hard time getting employment.

If you go to indeed and search, Temporary Seasonal. There are over 15,800 jobs paying $20.00+

My old Seasonal job used to pay $30.00 an hour with all the OT I could stand and the monkeys made $19.00 This year, the monkeys are making $30.00 an hour also.

i went to blowes the other day and there was a mezzican looking woman sitting on a chair at the intersection with a sign telling us she had two kids and needed money. ironically about 10 feet away from her was a "lowes is hiring" sign. she looked capable of running a cash register. at least until i ran her over with my f250. probably didn't look too good after that but i didn't look back.
