I'll cut them some slack, they do a lot more good than bad.
You don't need to compromise your principles to help do good work.
There are tons of places to put your money, that would provide more,
And targeted help. Ask the preacher who you could send an anonymous
gift card to. Look around, order heating oil for some old person.
Or (gasp) a young one trying to support their kids.
Told my sister once that if I were to win a big lottery, it would be cool
to anonymously help folks. "But it would be hard to find them".
She argued, as she likes to do. "Oh, that's easy. Just ask around."
But the ones that are so easy to find don't need my help.
Either they are on assistance, or just mooches.
I'd like to help the strong proud people that are eating rice and beans.
Juggling buying a ham bone against the electric bill.
And they won't tell a soul or ask for a nickel. And you have to do
it anonymously. Because they will not accept it if offered.
We have, on occasion, mailed gas cards, or grocery cards to people.
Makes it easier to look them in the eye on the street.
