Boys and girls, if you have that big, heavy, beautiful shade tree overhanging your living room, bedroom, kitchen, etc., and you've been putting off having it trimmed or taken down, better not put it off any longer. Here's what can happen when least expected.

We took down two big-assed pecan trees out of the back yard five or six years ago. Good riddance.

Huge mature trees on a small residential lot aren't an asset, they're a liability.

Had to take down a huge live oak this year that was mostly dead.

Had to fell it a certain direction too, away from the buildings.

It was an accident looking for a time to happen. That tree had worried me for a couple of years.

I had four huge old oaks removed from my property seven or eight years ago. Expensive as hell, but I sleep better for it.

Had a huge palm cut down and we did the cleanup. What a mess. The most useless tree ever. Home of scorpions, birds, and shedding fronds, bark and berries. Still have two. The only use out.of them is to hold up one end of my 80m dipole antenna. All.the other trees are annually subjected to grandpa with his Stihl.

I like Brenden Frasier movies, blast from the past was hilarious. He can play a variety of roles. I'm sure some boomer will come along and call him a liberal POS that can't act or something. Meh, I don't care. Funny stuff

My son had 2 very large and old soft maples in his yard. They were just west of his house by 20 feet. They had been there for years and were obviously old. He hired a guy to take them down and it wasn't 2 weeks later there was a huge wind storm come through and knocked trees down all over town. Even his wife's cousin lost several old and mature trees just 2 miles straight west of their house. Needless to say he cut that pretty close. If either one would of fell their house would of been gone. Cut them down ! Do it now.

You fellers are pikers. October 2019, a Tornado ripped through Dallas. My folks had an acre and a quarter full of mature red oaks, live oaks, silver maples, cedar elms, cottonwoods, hackberry, pecan, walnut and other species of trees wiped out. One cottonwood was 135' feet tall and 7'+ in diameter. I spent damn near 2 months clearing the mess. 68 big trees in all were destroyed. Did it all with my trusty 261 and 462.

A friend up the road a couple miles had one drop through his bedroom a few weeks back during a wind storm. snapped or blew over 5-6 big pines and blew apart his neighbors shed. Must of been a focused burst because we only had winds to 65 MPH. Both him and wife escaped with cuts and bruises, lucky to live through that.
