A cowgirl helped look for strays yesterday, she is a dog and horse whisperer.


Her border collie pup was one of the best dogs I've ever seen. It was only it's third trip out for an all day ride and did great.

Super smart and well trained.

They are sharp without question Sam. I'd say brilliant... As Bristoe wrote when we got the first pup, "she needs a cow". We get them out on 4 mile "walks" daily and they run the yard but I inevitably feel guilty that they should be running with you or big Jim. That said, they are happy here as are we.

Gotta love a dog thread. I've got two Aussies, a Catahoula and a JRT, but to be honest, it's feeling more like a canine hospice every day. Damn old dogs. They are my heart.

First thing my Airedale would do is find the cat.

Wouldn't need that scratcher after that!!

Nothing like feeling the cheek scabs on the elder when the younger just hangs there.

I'm sorry Pat. Since my brother lost his red heeler I've been dog less. I haven't owned one in decades but in my former life I had at least 1400 dogs that were my pal.

Didn't matter if it was three times or 16 times a year when I saw them they still remembered me and knew they would get treats and I would stop and play/pet with them all. After I retired my boss who had to cover for me most of the next year would call and bitch about how I spoiled the dogs on the route.

Then I would remind him about how I spoiled his red heeler. I'd go to there house and play with her and all I would hear don't let her chew ect ect. I'd go home with hands that looked like Huntsman 22's after Fin and Lorena got through with them and then later hear how she somehow calmed down.

I know Ingwe would school me but in 15 years only got bit bad 3 times. Worst bite was a golden retriever. Go figure.

So, no vets around there, chief?

Dogs are like brothers.

One elder to keep the others in line, the middle one as playmate and teacher to the younger, and the young one to move up into the vacated spot when the elder one passes and the middle moves up to elder.

Good job on the walks, it's what dogs love to do.
