Anyone have any experience reloading this brass in 7x57 Mauser.
I have found 100 rounds of 140gr. psp's for what I can buy brass for.
All info appreciated.

No experience with s&b 7x57, but experience with 762x54. What I've done in past is pull existing bullets, dump powder. Charge with my powder of choice, seat bullet of my choice. Fix any bullet runout to ~0.003" or less. Shoot.

Then use the s&b case like any other. Not the same as a Lapua case, but serviceable.

Of the loaded ammo I pulled bullets from, I measured ~0.2 gr difference in weight case to case. Not too bad.

I'm using some S&B brass in 308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor. What I have is free range pick ups. I size necks with a Lee collet die and use a Redding body die as well. Bullets are seated with Forster dies. I have not sorted the brass in any way yet loaded rounds with the worst runout show only .002" so the brass seems to be alright. Great results on target as well.

This mirrors my experience with their .223 Brass.

I forgot to mention the primer pockets are nice and snug.

I've used it in 7x57, I'd say that it is at least as good as typical Fed/Rem/Win brass for consistency.

Not 7x57 but 308. The primer pockets were a bit shallow and quite tight. But my rifle shot nice groups with it with 130gn Speer HP and 150gn Hornady SP. I then bought some of the Federal Gold Medal brass (remember that?) and my rifle shot the same size groups. Considering the component shortage over there, I'd snap it up.

Works great in my creedmoor and swede.. I don't shoot well enough with irons to say if the Lapua brass shoots any better than properly prepped S&B:


The longevity may be better with Lapua though..

I have not loaded any S&B brass, but I did measure a whole bunch of 6.5CM range pickups and found them to be very consistent in weight, and the case neck wall variance was less than .001" in almost all of the cases.
I measured the primer pockets as just a touch shallow, so I used my uniformer the deepen them to spec.

Don't have a 7x57mm Mauser, but I DO have several 8 mm's.

Shot a few boxes of S&B ammo out of them, and saved to brass to reload. They measure up well.

One box got 2 load developments and 4 more loadings (6 uses total) before rings began to show around the base. Another got 1 development and 5 loadings before the same (again, 6 uses total). About 5-7 loadings (with proper loading, annealing and care) is all I'm going to ever ask of my brass at any rate, so there's that. With some chamberings, 3-5 is the most I ask.

I wouldn't say this is top brass on par with Lapua, because YMMV. Have never acquired any Lapua brass, so I can't really even say that for comparison (just going by word of mouth here). I will say that, for average plinking, practice, and hunting, S&B will suffice the average loader's needs.

One thing to note: the rims will not fit in a standard 7x57 shellholder.
