I see/hear the certified welder phrase a lot. Certified for what?? tons of certifications out there. I have worked on gas plants and pipe lines and have certified for that welding process. I do not know the specs for welding on wheel rims. So need to know if the welder knows what he is doing.

I had an old 24ft Flatbed with Tandem Duals. Split rim. I checked the bolt pattern, went to the junk yard. Ended up with Steel duals off a 1 ton Ford if I remember right. Tire shop didnt balk with the newer style and tires were cheap and plentiful. Seems way easier than anything suggested thus far.... Good luck from a cheap ass farmer in Missouri.

all depends upon max speed. the faster they spun the worse the imbalance vibration... ever had a chunk of ice frozen on one side of a wheel?

I worked for a wheel manufacturer that made white spoke wheels. Each spoke was welded individually to the rim. We also made 15 x 10" wheels for dune buggies. If I remember correctly we cut the rim apart from the drop center of 2 wheels to make the 10" wheel. I never saw a wheel like that fail. Our only real problem was wobblers of wheels not properly trued or backfaced on a lathe during production. Oh, and they were welded by a couple Mexicans and one Guatemalan.

Are the truck rims 10 hole? bud? Can you use military 5 ton wheels? Most used 5 tons wheels are not $500.

So, dump box has old dual wheels. Three of them are the suicide type, What would it take to use the old rim centers, and weld them to a buggered up 22 1/2" rim? Doing it so it has singles? I did some of them for a customer a couple of years ago. I made the plates to fit the rim, no offset and welded them in making sure they were parallel to the beads on the rim. Then set them up to machine the center hole and lug pattern. They ran truer on the hubs than the factory wheels. No problem with the right equipment and experience. Depending on how wide the rims are they may need some gussets to strengthen the plates.

I have done this with smaller rims. The killer is you need a 20" swing lathe to true it up. Do not weld through the headstock...
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

Get yourself some 16" Load range H 16 Ply Trailer Tires at Walmart or eTrailer...
Single tire: 4,805 lbs at 123 psi Dual tires: 4,546 lbs at 123 psi
Thats 18k on the tires... trailer will fail well before that.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.
