I was thinking the other day how much I used to hate Bill Clinton. He was freaking George Washington compared to what they are now.

Once Upon A Time In The West....Charles Bronson, Henry Fonda, Jason Robards, Claudia Cardinale (probably most beautiful actress all time)....could look at that movie every week. Oh yeah, I watched that movie many many times with my dad when I was growing up I'm still trying to figure out what in heck is going on. What is there to figure out ?

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Lawrence of Arabia. No contest.
"I carry 23 great wounds, all got in battle. 75 men have I killed with my own hands in battle. I scatter, I burn my enemy's tents. I take away the flocks and herds. The Turks pay me a golden treasure; Yet I am poor, because I am a river to my people." TE Lawrence was a homosexual. Not really my cup o tea Not a whole lot of evidence he willingly had sex with anybody. Can you cite your sources?

I was surprised to see it take "Lonesome Dove" 5 pages to make the list. Great western.

Perhaps not in the “Best ever” category but a movie I can watch every year is The Big Red 1. I love the characters in that movie. Its a movie about soldiers more than war.

Braveheart Shawshank The Red Violin Last of the Mohicans The Magnificent Seven (original version)
just to name a few. Really hard to pick an undisputed favorite.
Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.

I would like to know the ages of you posters on the topic...I suspect some pretty strong trends could be at work here, age wise.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

What's the yardstick of "best?" Film critics don't know s-h-i-t about movie quality.
There are two things I like ... sci fi and western. I don't care for "art" films or mushy shyte.
For me, probably the most powerful was the original Star Wars.
On the western side, Quigley Down Under, Unforgiven, and Jeremiah Johnson. Throw in Blazing Saddles and Wagons East for some laughs.
Another I really liked was The Postman. The book by David Brin is even better. The story in the book occurs on my home turf, the rock quarry setting was a couple miles from my house. He clearly did a lot of research on the book's setting and got it right.
Anyone who thinks there's two sides to everything hasn't met a Mbius strip.
Here be dragons ...
