Will a loose hub cause wear on inner and outer edges of a trailer tire? Air pressure is good. Assume a bent axle would just wear on one side

Underinflation can cause that. Trailer tires in general suck monkey snatch.

Typically, that would mean the tire is under inflated.

Trailer tires need balancing also.

BrAnd new tire at the proper pressure. Replaced the last one cause it was bald on inside and out. After 200 miles on the new tire I can already see where it will wear more.

Jack it up and check for slop... tighten the nut as required.

I just ordered 5 of these... https://www.walmart.com/ip/Travelstar-HF288-Trailer-Tire-ST225-75R15-117M-LRE-10PLY/936125491

Absolute overkill in a #3500 axle, but I like overkill.

So much is made in China anymore... who knows if Travelstar will last.

Bent(out of alignment) wear depends on axis.
You could have a toe issue, and a camber issue.
One wearing each side.

Single or tandem?

Wear on just one tire?

I'm running Sailun S637 235/80R16 G rated tires on everything except the 32' Diamond C FMAX210 and that's only because it's still running OEMs.

The last set of Sailuns I bought were made in Vietnam. They've been fantastic trailer tires.

I’m assuming the wheel has been checked to make sure it’s not bent/warped??

Single axle, only wearing on one tire. Other side wears even.

I am thinking slop in the hub...

I suppose it could but it'd have to be pretty loose.

As o the axle being bent, take the tire and hub off lay a straight edge along side the axle and measure.

I can't imagine the bearings would last long enough on a hub loose enough to wear a tire like that.

No idea yet... the whole tire "game" is pure BS anymore...

Maybe do some Googling... I tried, but quit.

I did buy some Nokians (Finland) for my trucks a while back... damn impressed. Really.
