Maybe you should change your title to include what you're asking, instead of making people open up the thread to see it?

They're fantastic, both the original Tract 8x42 and the second generation. I wrote reviews of each a couple years ago. The second generation had a more field flattened look (not supper flat, but definitely a platform utilizing field flatteners). I preferred the originals, but that's my general preference against field flattening. I don't tolerate it and am susceptible to "rolling ball effect", hence my preference for Leica Ultravids over Swarovision.

They are outstanding. IMO, you need to spend 2x the money to do better.

I got the 8x42 when they first came out. They are very hard to beat in the $1000 and under binocular range. I prefer them to the Zeiss Conquest HD's, and so did everyone I hunted with in Africa. They are superb.

Just wrapped up my first season with them and I am really impressed. Will be getting a set of 10X Tracts as well shortly.

A really good bang for the buck, with very clear, sharp glass in them. Ergonomics are nice also. I don't think you can go wrong with the 8x42, which is what I have. Buy with confidence.

I just bought the 10x42 Schott Torics and they are awesome!!!. I have let a couple of alpha glass bird club members check them out and they where humbled by them. Dam close to in quality and view at just under 700 bucks. They also make a really nice rifle scope! Well worth the price of admission!!

I have 8x42 and the 12.5's. They are great.

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

JWP raves about his Tract's, has to be something to them. He's an S&B guy, so it's not like he used to looking through crap..

I hope they are as good as everyone says, I ordered a set last night with their 10% off promo code. I’m anxious to compare them to my Leupold BX-4 Pro Guides

You'll love 'em. That comparison won't even be close.....Toric easily.

I have limited Binocular experience compared to some.
My first hunting binocs were Monarch 3. Solid pair for $160 or what ever I paid 13 Years ago. Got my kids monarch 7 8x30 and love the size and weight.
Reading lots of positive reviews I decided to try out the 10x42s. All I can say is wow! I wish I would have bit the bullet couple years earlier as I didn't know what I was missing!

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.
