Beautiful stag grips on display here.
1911a1’s grips on his '48 Government Model are really nice, that “mellow yellow” coloring of old samba stag is gorgeous.

Great Pics rockinbar !

I like your brand on the holster. That's pretty neat getting the song dog with your pistola.

Thanks !
My uncle died in 1985 so I don't know any back ground on the pistol. He had another similar Newer vintage Colt (still pre 70 era) with stags but those grips had some sort of backing on them. It went to one of my other uncles.

jbmi's post reminded me of a knife I built from a kit in the mid 1990's that I put a Sambar stag handle on instead of the leather washers it came with. That piece of stag was cheap compared to what the stuff cost now.

Like ivory sanbar stag is embargoed therfor the lofty price tag. The sanbar stags I put on my S & W M/629 set me back $335.00, while a set of elk stags from Patrick Grasshorn can be had for a modest $165.00. Mr. Grasshorn makes some great grips and will craft a set with as much or as little bark as you prefer. Grips can be plain or with medallions whatever you like.

Patrick does great work. I like elk a lot. It’s just different than sambar stag.

Here is mine. Colt Single Action with genuine Sambar Stag grips. .357 Mag. caliber. Shoots very very well.

My one and only set. A pawn shop find maybe 10 years ago, both gun and grips.

That may be the first Bearcat I've seen with stag grips.

The blade and handle material came from knife kits.com. It is my hunting knife and has field dressed several deer now. Works great.

It is a 14-3. I bought the grips off an Internet forum. They look to me to be old, and they’ve shrunk a bit, but I thought they were pretty. I bought the revolver in the box in a gun show parking lot a few years ago for $300. Just missed a round butt 3” model 19 for the same price from the same seller.
