Replaced the license plate lights in my rear-bumper with LEDs. Now the computer always reads license plate lights out.
I would like to wire a resistor into one of the lamps to get the computer to recognize the lamp resistance.
Could anyone point me to one on Amazon that would do the job?

Ebay has them, ebay also has error free led lights.

What is your LED's current rating?

What is your LED's current rating? Not sure and don’t have any packaging to consult at this point.

I assumed from the title that this was about those stalwarts who continue to use traditional muzzle loading black powder rifles, and refuse to make the transition to in-line.

I buy them by the pooptillion with every value known for not much money. I would bet 50-100 would get you in the game. The load is pretty insignificant if it is a single led bulb.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

I think the question should be, is the computer sensing too much current flow or not enough?
When an incandescent bulb fails it becomes an open circuit, and the computer would be responding to NO (or diminished, if there are multiple bulbs connected in parallel) current flow. I would assume that this is the case here, meaning that there is now not enough current flow to satisfy the computer. If the basic assumption is correct then adding a resistor "in line" or in series will only diminish current flow further. That means that some additional current flow is needed and that would be accomplished by adding a resistor in parallel to the LED. The downside to that is that the LED could fail and it is possible that the computer would not sense it because the resistor could still conduct sufficient current flow to prevent the alert. The best solution might be to add another LED just like the one now installed, in parallel.
That's just an educated guess, though. The current flow monitoring may not be as simple as I imagine it.

Not only do you have to have the correct /close resistance, you need to have a resistor of a high enough wattage rating to keep it from getting too hot and possibly burning up and opening.

I replaced the back up lights on my Dodge pickup with LEDs and they work great, no resistors needed. Possibly they have them built-in.

Who else remembers the resistor code mnemonic? 😳😆 Lol, one of the few things I remember from electronic class is that a large electrolytic capacitor will go off like an m-80 when ac power is applied...........

Even better to charge one up and leave it sitting on the bench for a fellow student to pick up.
