Yellowstone 1883 with Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and the best TV cowboy ever, Sam Elliott. I'm new to all this didn't realize a spin off was in the works.

Yep

Sam's dad was in federal game management, while my MIL's uncle was a Ca state trapper. They crossed paths , both working in northern California. Sam used to visit Uncle Morris, back in the late 60's and early 70's.

Sam may vote the D, but he was raised in a hunting environment. Morris eliminated a ton of mountain lions and coyote's from the San Juaquin valley up to the sierra's, starting after he returned from WW1. We have Morris' pocket notebook that he logged all his kills in, some years he had filled out more than one book. Used a colt huntsman with gov't stamping to finish off trapped, or shoot tree'd critters.

👍
A friend of mine is a retired CA government trapper.
Sadly, it's become so politically correct these days.
Newsom signed a 3 strikes addendum to the mountain lion thing.
A lion has to be proven of killing a particular landowners' stock 3 times before lethal measures can be taken.
Strict policies about dead or trapped animals in the back of trucks where the public can see.
Typical California bulls h it.
