I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience using 244 Win in 45 Colt. I've got a Cimarron 1873 short rifle I've been load fiddling with for a couple months now.
My go-to powders of Trail Boss and Unique have gotten decent, but not great accuracy. Accurate 2 was ok, but not as good as TB or Unique, and both HP-38 and Accurate 5 were just hopeless bullet flingers from it.
I've seen a ton of 244 Win floating around at LGS of late, and the ballistics look impressive by the book, but I just wondered about accuracy with 200 and 250gr RNFP bullets in anyone's experience on here?
Thanks

Any time Unique doesn't shoot well, I start to look at things like crimp, bullet quality, bhn, etc. Can you tell us more about your situation?
Okie John
If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

They're roll crimped pretty tightly. Bullets are commercial cast, 16 hardness. I've used them in other 45 Colts with better results. This is my 3rd 45 Colt rifle, so not my first rodeo with loading it for a lever.
I've had a couple other guns that just flat out would not shoot Unique before, so it's not gonna hurt my feelings to use a different powder. Trail Boss is actually the best shooter through it so far.
I went ahead and just grabbed a pound of that 244 on my way home from work earlier, so I'll see what happens with it here soon when the weather cooperates.
