I want a factory Kimber Mt Ascent/Montana in 1:7 (I could suffer 1:8) 22 Creed.
That is all.

That would be the shizzle. I have a Montana 7-08 that never gets shot. Tell me what a re-barrel would entail. I’m thinking 7 twist shorty threaded for my suppressor shooting 88s at night with my Thermion on top.
Mag box should be plenty long, would I need a different follower? Surely someone’s already done this. What am I missing?

Ha Ha, no it’s against my religion. I’m out of my comfort zone even thinking about changing calibers, grin.

A phone call to Lilja for a barrel, a gunsmith, components, maybe $1000 +/-.

A phone call to Lilja for a barrel, a gunsmith, components, maybe $1000 + /-. Don't know squat about the .22 CM, but I'd bet PacNor would do a bang up job for significantly less And I don't know if Lilja does barrel installation, but if he does, I'd guess he'd come in lower as well. Unless I had a third party 'smith I really trusted, I'd avoid that step of the process.

Lilja doesn't install barrels, but they have the Montana duplicate and a slightly modified Montana barrel contour in their list already. My gunsmith who I trust wholeheartedly with any rifle charges about $350 to install a barrel and chamber. Pac-Nor will run you around $700+ depending on options. Add in component and you'll be $1000 +/- depending on what you're willing to invest.

Hit the “easy” button and buy the Lilja mod contour barrel then send it all to Shaen.

Not seeing the Montana options on Lilja’s website. What’s the difference in the mod contour. Would you go 3 grove or 6 groove?

Dupe existing and shorten the shank a smidge. Hint.
Lilja is an easy pass. Hint...................

I've "only" got 84M's,L's and 8400's wearing Custom spouts. Pards probably have a "few" too. None were contoured prior and all were duped. Brux,Bart,PN' and a host of others, all in their OEM Montucky handles, less inletting work. Hint.
Liljee makes some nice stuff, but I would shop elsewhere for a Hot Rod .224 Spout, due barrel life. Hint.
I'll let The Kali Kid speak for himself, but KNOW that he LOVES contouring my spouts. Speaking of which,I see a parcel with his name on it in the corner, which must mean another 280?!? Hint.
Fhuqking LAUGHING!.................

That is all. Don't see that happening until the cartridge has SAAMI standards. Maybe someday.

Kimber can’t even find the time to screw a .223 tube on a Hunter, much less a nonstandard cartridge......

Just go ahead and build a few . I wouldn’t hold my breath for Kimber to ever get that one right. Rebarrel, change follower, and spring and rock on By far and away my most favorite rifle and chambering for killing
