I just spent my first time behind a Hogster R-25 that I ordered for scanner/rimfire duty, with the Super H on the gun. It’s a viable option for entry level use, for sure. If you have the extra $800-$1k, then the Super is an awesome upgrade. If you don’t, you can detect, ID, and shoot for more than enough for 90% of scenarios….that I’d see, anyway. Detected and watched deer at over 400……recognition was good to that far. Positive ID for raccoon vs possum, etc would be 100-150.

I have the hogster R-25. Good scope but could go with a higher end low magnification. When you increase magnification, resolution is cut in half with each click. I would have gotten the agm ts-35 if it were out at the time. There is a new better thermal for the same price coming out everyday. Its a shame about atn's reputation because they came out recently with the Thor LT thermals in 320 resolution that look pretty good for the price.

The little R25 is really better than it should be, and for a scanner/22 or other short range gun, the FOV and resolution works well, thus far. I’m shooting mostly with the Super still, so I haven’t really wrung out the R25 as a scope, but it’ll only get 22 sub use or as a backup/buddy scope for hogs, so it should be fine. I wish Bering made a Super version with a wider FOV/lower start mag, but I realize that many hunt far more open terrain and can shoot varmints at longer ranges than much of my cover allows.
