I am trying to determine when Pachmayr first introduced the Decelerator Recoil Pad. I called Lyman who bought Pachmayr a good number of years ago but no one there knew the answer to my question. Hope that someone might point me in the right direction.

Early 90's? Seems like that's when I remember ads in magazines popping up.

I built a custom rifle in 1992 and used a Pachmayr Decelerator in black.

I had my semi-custom built ,starting in the fall of ‘89 and completed in February of ‘90! My “smith” told me about the Pachmayr Decelerator when we first started discussing the build in mid 1989. Soooooo, sometime before June of ‘89! memtb

Yeah, the late 80s is what I remember.

I like 'em well enough, but they didn't hold up in rough use like the regular Pachmayr pads--which is understandable, also true of other soft pads. Which is why the custom .338 Winchester Magnum I used a lot back then, often on horseback hunts, had one of the standard models....

Thanks to those that took time to reply. I will be looking through old Shooters Bibles to see if I can tie it down. Will post update if I can.

Thanks again.

I believe that I have solved the puzzle. Found that it was filed on October 16,1989 and grated on September 18, 1990. Inventor credited to Carl J. Cupp of Pachmayr Ltd.
