My brother has an opportunity to buy an original 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Cadet rifle in .45/70. He said there is slight pitting on the barrel, which still has its rifling. the stock has no cracks and the rifle still has the original cleaning rod. There is no sticker on the rifle, but it is being sold. Duffy asked me how much to offer and I told him I'd get on the internet to see if I could get him an answer. He said the rifle looked in overall good condition to him. Everything works on it, strong spring and all. It has the short barrel. Being called a Cadet model, I rather imagine it was used as a training rifle. Thanks for any help folks ... Tom Purdom

Thank you very much for the info. I relayed it to Duffy in El Paso. Tom Purdom
