The local gun shop has TAC. It says it's good for 308 and 223. I looked on the website for data and can't find data for either 223 or 308. Any opinions on TAC powder here?

I don't know about using it in the .308, but if it's anywhere near as good in .308 as it is in .223, then you should be pleased.

Check pages 50 & 72 of this loading pamphlet:

I'd go buy some of that powder right now if you haven't done so already.

Look up Ramshot load data.

If you shoot a .308 win. I'd go buy a few pounds.

Thanks. I swear when you Google something, everything pops up that isn't needed.

I posted this awhile back but it may be relevant if shooting 130 gr Barnes TTSX.

130 gr TTSX-50.2 gr TAC in Lapua case fired from Winchester Model 70 SS Classic Featherweight = 3,163 FPS.

I use TAC in several 358's, it's accurate.

I worked up a great 308 load with Varget just before COVID hit and got all butthurt when I was forced to buy TAC instead.

I'm over it now. TAC meters like water, gives very high velocity, and is very accurate in the 308. Buy with confidence.

I picked some up today. Varget has been a popular powder for me. I'm excited to try this out.

Two things that might come in handy: TAC often doesn't shoot most accurately (or burn cleanly) until near maximum charges. It also sometimes works a little better with hotter primers.

Thanks MD for the advice. I have Federal Magnum primers or would you recommend something else? Rob

RAMSHOT, not Ramshorn.

Not MD, but I'd use anybody's magnum and in a regular primer I'd use the WLR.
