Critr, thanks for the pic! Good to see all the coyote hunting isn't done by the bolt action crowd (of which I am a member).

That was an interesting little rifle. Open sights, .243 caliber. And the kid could shoot it. He took one of his coyotes running......
------------------
Critr
www.SaguaroSafaris.com
"Let's break out some Winchesters, boys." Isn't it the truth that when we're young and don't know any better, we can become lethal with guns that later in life we'd just be convinced we couldn't shoot? And at both stages in life, we're right?
My first deer rifle - a gift from my dad when I turned 12 - was a bolt action Savage in 30-30, with an 18-inch barrel. Keep in mind I'm here in Idaho, where the game is open country mule deer. I didn't know any better, so starting at 12, I killed 20 deer with that goofy, inadequate gun. I just adapted my tactics to the capabilities of the gun, without being conscious that that was what I was doing. I learned to still hunt in cover, slowly, while everyone else was out cruising the ridges, watching for deer on the other side of the canyon.
There is a certain attitude we can learn from young, enthusiastic people. Great photo.
Greggun

WayCool, tell us about your bobcat hunt. And what kind of rifle is your .223?? And what other experience do you have with the 35-gr bullets. Likes and dislikes..........
------------------
Critr
www.SaguaroSafaris.com
"Let's break out some Winchesters, boys." Well.. unfortunately.. I hit that cat in the head... accidently on purpose.. when I spotted her she was sitting down looking at me perched on a small pile of rocks..
I had a really tough time judging the distance.. I estimated ALOT further than she was.. so when I finally settled my shooting sticks etc.. I decided to put it right on here nose.. and expected a frontal hit.. but she was not that far... and the bullet hit dead on the money.. :-(
My fault.
So far I love the 35gr pills.. They are really maxed out (28.7gr BLC(2)) and I dont have a chrono.. but I expect they are cooking.. they shoot great(.65 @100) out of my NEF 24" Hvy BBL(I'm a cheap A$$ what can I say...).. but dont use em' in the wind :-( they slow down real fast too.. so 300 is what I estimate to be max range.. BUT I have shot coyotes out at 200 and in at 25 yards.. with no exit..just an explosion inside.. ;-) Unfortunately the head shot was violent on the cat :-(
--Steve
