The H&R in .270 is usually quite accurate. Forend pressure can have a huge impact on accuracy. A clean and dry chamber is necessary for proper extraction. The inexpensive single shots are out of favor now with the new generation of economy bolt rifles.
Have #1 in 270 Antelope gun Too heavy for mountains in my opinion. Nice clean elegant rifle Shoots good 1 1/4 " groups at 100 yards, 2" at 200. Bolt guns shoot better groups. Good luck
