Hey guys, i just wanted to know what cartridges you guys use for most of your hunting and what game you pursue with them. I pesonally use .30-30 and .30-06 for NH whitetails and the occasional boar.

I've been using my 338 Win. Mag. for all AK game since last year and will do so again this year. Though, I have a 375 H&H that nees field time and a 280 Remington which will be going to the gunsmith soon.

I use the .300 Win Mag for everything I hunt. Might be considered a little large for some things, not big enough for others, but I have taken everything from antelope to moose with it and never wanted for power. Dead is Dead.

First choice is 6mm Remington.
Second choice is 7mm Remington Magnum.
Third choice is .25-06 Remington.

After that, it just works out to be whatever I happen to grab...

My rifle collection is sadly limited to one, a Rem BDL in 7mm Rem Mag...but it will do anything I ask it to do in the conceivable future and I would not hesitate to use it on any non-dangerous game animal in North America, and most of the plains game in Africa and Asia, with the right bullets.

.338 Win Mag, it's the only centerfire rifle I own. Gonna try out dad's 30-06 this year on deer.

Got most of the bases covered with a 308 and a 7 Rem Mag. Everything else just shoots paper.-KT28

Heck, I started listing one but then wound up with a few, now I cannot decide. See what you have done!

22lr for squirrels, rabbit -do lots of that!

next runner up for big game would be 50 cal smoke pole, or 357 magnum rifle or 30-06 or 7x57, and now 7-30 Waters which I soon hope to break in!

So I guess I really don't have a most used cartridge... I need to work on that! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Have taken more game with a 300 Win Mag than all others combined. A half dozen deer with a 270 and exactly one with a 243.

7mm Rem mag is my all around favorite. It's taken a truck load of white tail deer, my first Alaskan moose, a black bear and Dall Sheep. I am becoming very fond of the .338 Win Mag and the .280.

Let's think about this. I've killed deer with a 243 Win, 257 Rob, 250 Sav, 270 Win, 7MM Maus, 7MM Rem Mag, 30 Rem, 300 Sav, 308 Win, 30-06, 300 Win, 30-40, 303 Brit, 35 Whelen, 375 Win, .45RB, .54RB, .58RB, .69RB and a 12 ga Slug. My deer rifles of choice are the Whelan, the 375 and the .270. I used to own a gun shop when we headed out on a hunting trip I'd throw an armload of used guns in the truck and use a different one each day.

I actually take more deer these days with my bow than anything else... Next is 12ga saboted slugs, then .300WM for deer and larger, .243 or .22 rimfire(depending) on anything smaller than deer, and lastly .50cal muzzleloaders, and .454 casull SRH...

I have killed most of my game up to moose size with the good old 30-06. For moose, and game overseas, I use a 9,3x62.

Seems I always reach for my 338 Win/340 Wea for elk. I usually hunt deer at the same time. If I would hunt with a smaller caliber, it would be with the heaviest bonded bullet available.

In the heavy timber, I like the levers in 348 Win, 356 Win or .45-70. Again the same animals w/ the heaviest bullets.

Only have one big game rifle, a .338WM, which I use to hunt moose and other large game in bear country.
