I have a tube of LockTite that easily could be over 10 years old, bought a new Heritage Arms revolver in .22 and read that these have trouble with screws shaking loose, especially the shell ejector housing. I took my gun to the range and put 100 rds of ammo through it and yes, this screw was a little loose when I checked it a few days later.

I had an old tube of Lock Tite and put some of it on the threads of the shell ejector housing screw, and had read online that this stuff does not age well. I noticed that it had a light blue color over the dark blue it once had. Does this stuff really go bad like bananas in time, and if so, is it a gradual percentage sort of thing?

Thanks.

I've got a tube here ( it's red though) on the other side
of the bench that's probably 15-20 years old.
Still works fine. Just shake it up each time.
Works great for scope bases and ring screws

I've used old 242 for years, but I recently switched to 243 and I think it works better.

Isn't 243 just oil resistant.

Good point, when mounting a scope I always degrease with alcohol and compressed air. Will see if the Lock Tite holds the next time I go to the range, if not, degrease first.

IME, as long as it’s liquid when applied, it’s ok.
