Any of you guys own a Ridgeline ? I’ve got a question

I just got a 300 PRC CA Ridgeline. Working dark today dark I haven’t shot it yet. Hopefully Will be able to soon.

I don’t own one. But I am currently doing load development on a 26 nosler for my dad. Ask away.

I have one in 280 AI. One of the earlier ones with the 24" barrel.

The 26 nosler is 26” without the brake.

Depends on what cartridge. Go on their website, they list the barrel length of each cartridge.

Mine is 24" without the brake. I don't use the brake.

I was thinking about getting a lefty 7mm rem mag but I don’t want to use the brake. Do you think the recoil would be manageable? My current elk rifle is an older RH browning abolt 300 wm and kind of tired of getting thumped at the range. I’m very unfamiliar with just keeping the thread protector on. Any accuracy or cleaning concerns? Thanks

The recoil will be just as manageable as it was between the introduction of the 7mm RM in 1962 and the recent proliferation of muzzle brakes, which must somehow correlate with the fluoridation of our water and whatever other Commie plots have sapped our manhood. [This is humor - don't get all bent out of shape over it!]
Seriously, there is a qualitative difference between the unbraked recoil of a .300 WM and a 7RM. The 7RM is basically the same as a 30-06, plus a modicum of "jet effect" and the slightly increased weight of the powder charge, but not at all unpleasant. You will notice a significant decrease in "beat down" if you switch to the 7RM from the .300WM, assuming no muzzle brakes on either.

Now, that said, my best bud has a .300WM with a muzzle brake on it and that rig is no-kidding like shooting a .243! Not sure what brand of brake it is but he built his rifle 10 years ago so it's nothing super Gucci modern. You might consider putting your money into a brake for your .300WM - just a thought.

I have one in a 6.5 PRC

Mine with the brake: 6.5 PRC is about like a 243 or less. Really, I'm thinking it's less.

One of my friends shot it. He said, didn't kick at all.

I have only used two different bullets in it. Barnes 127 LRX and 140 grain Berger.

26 nosler with a brake is like my 22-250 recoil wise. But the blast is….considerable.

Per my conversation with Matt ( if I remember correctly) the listed bbl length is without the brake on. the brake adds roughly 2 inches.

I have a 28 N in a ridgeline that groups factory 162 ELDX's into a wee little cluster that mics about 4 tenths of an inch MV averaged 3220 for that load from my rifle

Thanks. Didn’t mean to hijack the thread. Appreciate the perspective. I shoot at a public range and I’m a lefty, so when a right handed shooter sits down next to me with a brake, it makes it challenging to get some quality range time. No brakes for me.

Good choice. I was looking at a 6.5 creedmoor and liked it. I think the ridgeline stock absorbs recoil better than most other stocks do, so shooting without a brake, especially while hunting you’ll never even notice the recoil.

I've owned a Ridgeline and a Mesa, both in .300Win.
Never used the brake on either rifle. Recoil wasn't an issue with either one.

I've never been a fan of muzzle brakes.
