Looking to possibly move a Remington 742 woodsmaster in 6mm. Gun is in good to above average condition. With original mag and 2 full boxes of Winchester 100gr and 1 partial of Remington. Took it in on a trade and have not much use for it. Not sure what it is worth. Just wanting to see if there’s any interest. I can post some pictures after work. Thanks. Sorry this is my first sale post.

Remington 742 in 6mm was only made one year 1963. It is a rare caliber. 30-06 is most common cal. Remington 7600, 760, and autos are going nuts right now as there will be no more made. Depends on condition, but if in good shape, I would start around $800.

Might be 244 that year. My father bought one new in1971. I still have it.
Sorry everyone had some family issues to handle. I will be returning emails to everyone in the morning. I wish I could get pms but it doesn’t seem to let me send or receive them. Thanks
I have a Remington M742 in 6MM REM that's stamped "6MM REM MAG" with "XXX" stamped over the "MAG". Many years ago, I sat next to Tim McCormack from Remington's custom shop on a flight to the SHOT Show and he said the first ones were stamped with the MAG. Remington changed their mind and decided to drop the MAG so they had an employee stamp the three X's over the MAG. They then blew them out to the 'marts at reduced pricing. He wrote a letter for me to keep with the rifle detailing all this.
So far it doesn't shoot very well. Only tried Hornady 95gr SST's and A4064 up to this point. Picked up a bunch of different bullets to try when I have the time.
I paid $350.00 for one several years ago. It had a Bushnell Scopechief Varable , extra clip, shells and a hard case right out of a Gunshop. It will easily shoot 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards. It has never jammed.
Is it just me, or is that scope twisted 90* counterclockwise? Shouldn't the emblem be on the top? Aren't the turrets normally on the top and right hand side when mounted? Not a big deal, but kinda odd.
